Hands-on application of reading strategies to prep for the FoRT.

During this interactive two-day workshop, you will engage in hands-on activities that will help you prepare a personalized study plan, review the major concepts of the Foundations of Reading (FoRT) Test, and be provided with study resources, test-taking tips, and strategies.

You will engage in hands-on activities that cover the Foundations of Reading, (phonological awareness, concepts of print and alphabetic principles, phonics, word analysis, and fluency) and Reading Comprehension, Instruction, and Assessment. Participants will engage in an analysis of FORT practice test questions through independent reflection and active participation in discussion. The objective of the workshops is to prepare participants to apply their learning to successfully pass the Foundations of Reading Test.

Ticket purchase secures a seat for both sessions.

The session will occur on Saturday, March 9, 2024 and Saturday, March 16, 2024.

Day 1
March 9, 2024 – Foundational Skills
9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

During this session, you will receive an overview of the test and a study plan. You will focus on phonological awareness (including phonemic awareness), concepts of print and alphabetic principles, and phonics. In addition, you will discuss word analysis and fluency. You will take part in the Practice test and engage in a review and analysis of Open Response 1: Foundational Skills.
 


 
Day 2
March 16, 2024 – Reading Comprehension, Assessment and Instruction
9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

During this session, you will focus on vocabulary development, reading comprehension, assessment and instruction. You will continue to take part in the Practice test and engage in a review and analysis of Open Response 2: Reading Comprehension.
