Come celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Urban Learning Collaborative, formerly Milwaukee Teacher Education Center, with a roaring 20’s themed gala at Summit Place on October 22, 2022. The night includes dinner, drinks, and dancing, with awards celebrating our community partners.
Proceeds from this event support ULC’s Haberman and Tyler Innovation and Technology Program. This Program provides funding and support for the technology needs that directly benefit educators enrolled in ULC Programs. To learn more about the program, click here.

Dr. Jeanette Mitchell, Legacy Award
Jeanette Mitchell, Ed.D. is currently Chief Creative Officer for her consulting business, Leadership By Dr. Jeanette (LBDJ). LBDJ works in creative partnerships to direct, design and manage leadership development programs throughout the Greater Milwaukee community.
Johannah Karstedt St. John, Rising Star Award
Johannah Karstedt St. John is a leader in women’s professional advancement and joined Northwestern Mutual’s Field Diversity and Inclusion team as Senior Director Diversity & Inclusion in 2020.
Mary Saldana, Distinguished Alumna Award
Mary Saldana is a proud alumna of Milwaukee Teacher Education Center currently known as Urban Learning Collaborative. After 26 years of dedicated service at Riley School, Morgandale School, and Kagel School, Mary recently retired from the Milwaukee Public School system.
Walter Lanier, Trailblazer Award
Walter Lanier is a husband, father, lawyer, pastor, teacher, educator, and social entrepreneur with a deep commitment to being a liberating force in Milwaukee. In February 2022, Lanier became the President and CEO of the African American Leadership Alliance Milwaukee (AALAM).
